Pag-ibig at Ihi POSTED AT 03:17 PM Usapan sa loob ng sasakyan, isang tahimik na gabi: Anak: Inay, mahal mo ba ako? Inay: Um... bukas. Anak: Pano mo nalamang mahal mo ako? Inay: Tita, parang yang ihi. Lalabas lang yan, hindi mo kayang pigilan. Buod: Ang pag-ibig ay parang ihi, hindi kayang pigilan. |

Peanut butter and pizza POSTED AT 03:59 PM I hate cravings! I hate them! I hate them! Now I can’t concentrate on my work because all I can think about is the taste of peanut butter and the taste of pizza. I know they don’t go well together. But still… I want peanut butter and pizza. I hate cravings! I just hate them! So who wants to come with me to the pizza parlor? |

How to live through good-bye POSTED AT 08:14 AM You know that this whole bit about despedida parties is weird.
You know it’s a party done when someone leaves. A party is done for celebration. When you analyze it, you celebrate when someone leaves.
Which of course isn’t how you really feel.
Defense mechanism.
Pretend that you don’t have separation anxiety.
You know that it’s sad to see good friends leave. But still have a blast as you “celebrate” them leaving. “Celebrate” hard so as not to cry. Stay until they all leave even if you haven’t packed your bags for the field, even if you have to leave in a couple of hours. Find the courage to go up and sing on that stage. You have to sing since one of those leaving requested it. Even if you feel silly and goofy and so out of tune, just close your eyes and belch it out.
Have that chat with the new volunteer. Keep yourself busy. You know that if you have too much free time, looking around, you’ll probably end up crying. And you don’t want to cry. Remember that they will still be in the same city, just not the working for the same organization.
Don’t even think about who might leave next.
Life will still go on. And they will be your friends. Relax. Have fun. |
